About Newcastle Nighthawks

The Newcastle Nighthawks Baseball Club were founded in 2017. After a year of casual Sunday baseball on Nuns Moor, Newcastle the club moved to their current home at Gosofrth Sports Association in 2018

In 2019 the Nighthawks entered the British Baseball League at single A level and subsequently won the Play Off finals beating Sheffield Bladerunners 1. In 2020 the Nighthawks moved up to AA level, reaching the play off finals but losing out 2-1 over 3 games to the Liverpool Twojans.

After the COVID pandemic the Nighthawks grew in numbers and went on to enter a new development team at Single A level aswell as a team at AAA level. The AAA Nighthawks recorded a season on 18-2 topping the league, however they lost the 2022 final to the Liverpool Trojans

In 2023 the Nighthawks broke off from the BBL and alongside Co Durham Spartans setup the North East Baseball League with a focus on growing the sport in the region. The Nighthawks split in to two even sides, the Talons and Wings, and alongside Spartans were joined by both Newcastle and Durham univerisites in forming a league. The 2023 final was an all Nighthawks affair with the Talons winning final held at Gosforth

In 2024 the Nighthawks are still part of the NEBL which now includes Edinburgh Rays.

The club has introduced over 150 people to baseball and currently holds an adult membership of 60. The Nighthawks are a co-ed club

In 2024 a junior team will be launched as part of our effort to grow the sport in the region. We are also keen to setup an all womens team this year
